Alpha Phi International Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Alpha Phi is committed to providing education and resources that build cultural competence and to actively engage in conversations that challenge one another to uphold the highest tenants of Human Dignity. As Alpha Phis, we expect our members to live up to our high ideals and to show the best qualities of character by being fair, inclusive and supportive, which is exemplified through the work of the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion department.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are an integral part of the Beta Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi at the University of Utah. Alpha Phi recognizes and celebrates each member's diverse backgrounds and complex identities. We are actively working on revising and improving our recruitment processes, educational practices, and chapter bylaws to reflect diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we incorporate these modifications, we are dedicated to holding our members accountable for upholding these standards.
At Alpha Phi Theta Sigma, we believe that every member deserves to feel welcomed, valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic self. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is more than a commitment; it is a foundation of the sisterhood we strive to build every day.
Diversity
is the presence of individuals with different backgrounds, identities, experiences, perspectives, cultures, and abilities. Our differences strengthen our chapter and allow us to learn from one another.
Equity
means ensuring that every member has fair access to opportunities, support, and resources. We recognize that everyone’s experiences are unique, and we are committed to creating an environment where each sister has what she needs to succeed and thrive.

Inclusion
is the intentional effort to create a space where every member feels welcomed, heard, respected and encouraged to participate fully. Inclusion means celebrating our differences while fostering meaningful connections and a true sense of belonging.

Why DEI Matters
A strong sisterhood is built on understanding, respect and belonging. By embracing diversity, promoting equity and fostering inclusion, we create an environment where every member feels supported and empowered to grow as a leader and as an individual.
Our commitment to DEI extends beyond our chapter. Through education, service, advocacy and meaningful conversations, we strive to make a positive impact on our campus and in the communities we serve.
